Gary Taitinger

Executive Director

Gary served for 37 years at Hope City Edmonton, where the church grew from 300 to 3,000 in average Sunday attendance. In partnership with Alpha Canada, he has led large-scale, cross-denominational evangelization initiatives. In 2013, he mobilized a coalition of churches in Alberta from 23 denominations where 30,000 Albertans attended Alpha groups and just over 4,800 people made professions of faith. In 2015, after coordinating a leadership succession at his church, Gary partnered with Alpha Canada on “Invite Canada,” a nationwide united-witness evangelization effort focused on Canada’s largest cities, where 45,831 guests attended and 18,720 people began or restored a relationship with Jesus.

From 2017 to 2025, Gary served as District Superintendent for Alberta and the Northwest Territories in the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada (PAOC). When he began, only 18% of churches were growing. Over his tenure, the District moved from decline and stagnation to sustained momentum, more than tripling the number of growing churches. The turnaround was also measurable at scale: district-wide average Sunday attendance grew from around 15,000 in 2021 to over 30,000 in 2025, alongside effectiveness coaching and practical vitalization systems that pastors and regional leaders could actually implement.

Gary now serves as Executive Director of Church Vitalization Canada, coaching denominational leaders and bishops on how to lead denomination-wide transformation. The focus is scalable: helping leaders build systems that move entire networks from plateau to fruitfulness, not just isolated “success stories.” Church Vitalization Canada exists to help change the trajectory of 8,000 churches, and Gary’s work is aimed at strengthening the pivotal link in the chain: the regional leader who aligns the mission, coaches the pastors, and builds a culture of measurable effectiveness.
